SpiceJet, AirAsia India Launch Discounted Fares
Budget carrier SpiceJet started a fresh round of fare war on Monday after it launched a discount scheme, offering all-inclusive tickets as low as Rs 1,899.
The SpiceJet offer came after its rival AirAsia India introduced a promotional scheme.
To avail the SpiceJet offer, tickets must be booked between July 6-8, for travel between July 15 and September 30.
SpiceJet has offered the promotional schemes on southern and western sectors. It is applicable on routes like Ahmedabad-Mumbai, Ahmedabad-Pune, Bengaluru-Chennai, Bengaluru-Hyderabad, and Goa-Mumbai.
AirAsia under its promotional scheme is offering fares from Rs 999 on Bengaluru-Goa, Bengaluru-Kochi, Bengaluru-Pune and Guwahati-Imphal routes.
The AirAsia offer is valid on bookings till July 19 and is applicable on travel period between February 15, 2016, and August 31, 2016.
Under the same AirAsia offer, Bengaluru-Vizag fares start from Rs 1,490, Bengaluru-Jaipur at Rs 2,490, Bengaluru-Chandigarh Rs 2,490 and Bengaluru-Delhi Rs 3,290.
Many airlines have announced promotional fares frequently this year which helped boost passenger traffic significantly. Domestic airlines carried 322 lakh passengers during January-May 2015 as against 267 lakh during the corresponding period a year ago – an increase of over 20 per cent.
