Production

The industry produced a total 3,873,056 vehicles including passenger vehicles, commercial vehicles, three wheelers and two wheelers in April-May 2015 as against 3,852,542 in April-May 2014, registering a marginal growth of 0.53 percent over the same period last year.

Domestic Sales

The sales of Passenger Vehicles grew by 9.98 percent in April-May 2015 over the same period last year. Within the Passenger Vehicles, Passenger Cars, Utility Vehicles and Vans grew by 12.70 percent, 2.16 percent and 6.11 percent respectively during April-May 2015 over the same period last year

The overall Commercial Vehicles segment registered a growth of 5.16 percent in April-May 2015 as compared to same period last year. Medium & Heavy Commercial Vehicles (M&HCVs) registered a growth at 24.66 percent while Light Commercial Vehicles declined by (-) 5.59 percent during April-May 2015 over the same period last year.

Three Wheelers sales declined by (-) 6.37 percent in April-May 2015 over the same period last year. Passenger Carriers and Goods Carriers declined by (-) 7.63 percent and (-) 1.22 percent respectively in April-May 2015 over April-May 2014.

Two Wheelers sales registered a de-growth of (-) 0.73 percent in April-May 2015 over April-May 2014. Within the Two Wheelers segment, Scooters, and Mopeds grew by 3.94 percent and 7.48 percent respectively while Motorcycles dropped by (-) 2.91 percent in April-May 2015 over April-May 2014.

Exports

In April-May 2015, overall automobile exports grew by 5.73 percent. Passenger Vehicles, Commercial Vehicles and Three Wheelers registered a growth at 13.64 percent, 26.48 percent and 51.89 percent respectively while Two Wheelers declined by (-) 3.04 percent in April-May 2015 over April-May 2014.
