Facebook in its new venture is reportedly building an app that will deliver breaking news notifications to its users.

The app which is yet in its testing stage and will take some time before it is rolled out to the users. Once the users download the app, they can choose to follow the partnering publications from whom they would like to view stories. Whenever there is breaking news, the publications that the users have followed will send out notifications along with a url to the story. Clicking on the url, will take the users to the publications website to read the story.

Facebook has supposedly partnered with a few publications for this new app. The app is similar to Twitters recently launched ‘news’ tab. However facebook has not released any official statement in regard to the app.
