Bollywood’s first family, the Bachchans, had a sole representative in the form of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan at Sunday’s party to meet Prince William and Kate Middleton. The absence of Ash’s husband Abhishek, 40, is explained by this Twitter conversation he had with All Is Well co-star Rishi Kapoor:

Abhishek is laid up in bed after reportedly suffering the slipped disc while paying cricket with daughter Aaradhya. Umm, oops?

But the night belonged to the guests of honour, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. Kate Middleton looked lovely in a royal blue Jenny Packham dress, which she accessorised with Amrapali jewels. We like the desi twist, made-in-India beading:
