SpiceJet Unveils a promotional scheme Offer under ‘India Will Fly’ Sale
Budget carrier SpiceJet has unveiled a promotional scheme offering tickets as low as Rs 826 (base fare) on domestic routes and Rs 3,026 (base fare) on international routes.
The bookings for SpiceJet sale, called ‘India Will Fly’, will remain open till midnight of January, 27 2016. The SpiceJet offer is applicable on travel between February 1 and April 12, 2016.
In a statement, SpiceJet said the offer is available on first-come-first-served basis and tickets for this offer can be booked through the airline’s website, apps or through travel portals.
Tickets under this offer, SpiceJet said, are non-refundable (statutory taxes are refundable) though they are changeable with a change fee and payment of the fare difference.
SpiceJet has been one of the most aggressive players in offering promotional schemes to lure flyers, taking advantage of a fall in aviation fuel prices. The budget carrier has for the eighth consecutive month reported a load factor of above 90 per cent in December.
Lower airfares have spurred a big growth in air travel in India. Domestic airlines in 2015 carried 674 lakh passengers, a rise of 20.3 per cent from the previous year.
SpiceJet has a fleet of 25 Boeing 737NG, 2 Airbus A320s and 14 Bombardier Q-400s. It operates 291 daily flights to 40 destinations, including six international ones.
SpiceJet on Friday reported a record net profit of Rs 238.40 crore for the three-month period ended December 2015, staying profitable for the fourth straight quarter mainly aided by lower fuel costs. In the 2014 December quarter, the airline had incurred a net loss of Rs 275.03 crore.
Total income from operations jumped to Rs 1,459.95 crore in the latest December quarter compared to Rs 1,311.18 crore in the year-ago period.
SpiceJet shares were up nearly 10 per cent on Monday, as compared to a 0.75 per cent gain in Nifty. (With Agency Inputs)
